• 10/3/09             10 months: A Hiatus

    • Recess (break), a break or interruption in the continuity of a work, series, action, etc.
    • Hiatus (anatomy), a natural fissure in a structure
    • Hiatus, a small difference in pitch between two musical tones (see Interval (music))
    • Hiatus (linguistics), a phonological term referring to the lack of a consonant separating two vowels in separate syllables, as in co-operation
    • Hiatus, a discontinuity in the age of strata in stratigraphy
    • Hiatus (band), a Belgian crustcore band

2009 has been a year of enormous creative endeavors, while at the same time being a natural fissure in the stucture of my work.  The strata finds form and completion, a distinguishable color and quality.  Seperate from those above or below, unique discontinuity and necessary to the process of formation.  Now amongst the settling of dust, a new layer is visible.

Boggy Creek Farms has nourished our bodies and creative spirits for quite some time.  We come for food, friends, and the beauty of the place.  When George got his new studio at the old bread factory on Tillery, the trips became more frequent.  He proposed the idea of painted photos of chickens, to be our first collaborative effort as cousin/ artists.  These images, which are black and white archival inkjet prints with acrylic paint, are the result.  Chicken photos will be on display by the chicken coop this Saturday at Boggy Creek Farms.  www.boggycreekfarm.com

This is the installation I created for EAST.  You can see the individual pieces in the portfolio section.
